Lumia models will get Windows 10
Selected Lumia models have been confirmed to receive the Windows 10 update, but not all smartphones will get it.
Despite a report saying Windows 10 operating system will work on ‘today’s’ Lumia smartphones, Microsoft has admitted that not all phones will receive the update.
On the Lumia Conversations blog, the company said: “Our goal is for the majority of Lumia phones running Windows Phone 8 and 8.1 to join the Windows ecosystem along with an expected hundreds of millions of PCs, tablets and other devices running the next generation of Windows.”
However, the Lumia 435, Lumia 735 and the gold edition of the Lumia 930 will definitely receive Windows 10.
On the official blog, Microsoft gave a demonstration of what users can expect from the anticipated OS update on a Lumia 1520.
The news comes after Microsoft claimed in November 2014 that all models would be receiving the upgrade.
The firm added: “Like any upgrade to a new platform, not every phone will upgrade or support all possible Windows 10 features, and certain features and experience will require more advanced future hardware.”
Despite the confirmed models, other Windows Phone users will have to wait a little longer to see if they will receive the OS update.
