Three Mobile FAQs
Which phones are available with Three Mobile?
You can choose from a range of leading mobile phones and smartphones compatible with the Three network, including models from Apple, BlackBerry, HTC, LG, Nokia, Samsung and Sony Ericsson. There are loads of manufacturers and mobile phone models available, making it a bit tricky to decide which one you want, but you can compare Three Mobile phone deals by clicking here.
What is the Three Mobile coverage like in my area?
If you visit the homepage of Three Mobile, you can use the handy coverage checker for both mobile and mobile broadband.
What are the different tariffs available?
Three Mobile has a range of tariffs available to suit different needs, and these cover Pay Monthly, Pay As You Go and SIM-only mobile phone offers. Visit our Three tariff guide for a clear and detailed breakdown.
I want to switch to Three Mobile, can I keep my old number?
Of course. You will need to contact your current or previous mobile network provider and ask for your PAC (Porting Authorisation Code). Once you have your PAC, switching your old number is simple.
Give your PAC to Three within 30 days by calling 333 (no charge) from a Three mobile, or 0843 373 3333 (charges apply). Three will then switch over your old number to your new phone, and this can be done by the next working day if you contact Three by 5pm between Monday and Friday (not including bank holidays). You can also ask for the changeover to take place at a later date.
It is also important that you have an active Three account, as without this this you cannot complete the number switch, and if your PAC has expired you will need to get a new one.
Can I get a contract deal for my old phone?
Yes. A lot of people are choosing SIM-only deals because they don’t include the cost of a new phone. You keep your old phone, or buy a new one separately, and still get the impressive allowances that come with a contract deal, and some of these are only a 1 month rolling agreement so the commitment is still low. Three has a wide range of SIM-Only deals available.
I have a contract with Three Mobile, can I upgrade?
If you have no overdue payments and you are close to the end of your current contract (e.g. your 11th month on a 12 month contract or the 17th month on an 18-month contract), you should be eligible for an upgrade. Contact Three for free from your mobile on 333 to ask about an upgrade, but make sure you wait until your contract is nearly up, in order to get the best offer.
How do I activate a Three Pay As You Go Add-on?
Once you have topped up, you can go to My3 online or call 444 and convert your credit into an Add-on. You must top up enough to cover the cost of your preferred Add-on.
I’ve heard about The One Plan, what exactly is it?
The One Plan is a tariff developed by Three that gives you massive allowances for a competitive price. Starting at £25 per month on a 24 month contract, The One Plan includes 2,000 anytime, any network minutes with 5,000 texts and 5,000 Three-to-Three calls, as well as all-you-can-eat data, which means unlimited internet usage on your phone. The One Plan is also available as a SIM-only deal.
Can I make my own Pay Monthly deal?
Yes. When you visit the Three Mobile site, you have the option to build your own deal from scratch, although there are plenty of deals already available which you can check out first. All the key features of each deal are always displayed clearly for you, to make it easier.
Can I get mobile broadband with Three?
Definitely! Three is actually one of the pioneers of mobile broadband, helping to develop it into the popular service it is today. You can get mobile broadband with Three through dongles, as well as laptops with the mobile broadband allowance built-in. Mobile broadband with Three is also available for iPads and tablets, and through the use of MiFi.
What is MiFi?
MiFi is a type of compact wireless router which acts as a portable WiFi hotspot. Three offers a selection of Pay Monthly and Pay As You Go deals for MiFi.
